Impala Training

Eco tourism is one of the fastest growing economic sectors in South Africa. Many landowners are therefore converting farms into game farms, lodges, bush camps and hunting camps. This results in the need for trained guides, managers and many other related jobs in the industry.

We are proud to present a unique range of short courses that can be combined or used individually as “steppingstones” for a person to qualify in the relevant areas. We are a leader in the industry and have been successful and used as an example for the past 14 years.

We are dedicated to give you the best possible training, service and value for money as well as an unforgettable nature and wildlife experience. The standards we aim to uphold are high and we expect the same from our students.  This is why our students (who pass their courses), do not have trouble finding jobs fast. Of course we also have the necessary accreditations as an extra benefit for ourselves as well as our students.  However, experience taught us that it is not necessarily the qualifications a student has achieved, but also the attitude, self-respect, style and personality of an individual that matters. All of which we try to form, and build upon, during their time with us.

One of the most important factors to consider is that a large amount of knowledge and experience can be gained in relatively short periods. Thus, the student will be able to start work immediately, rather that study 3-5 years without the assurance of a good job. In addition, we have 15 years’ worth of contacts and are known in the industry as suppliers of well trained guides.

During your time with Impala, you have the opportunity to break away from your normal routine and lose yourself in nature and the bush. Our office has re-located from Warmbaths to our farm and campus on Kromdraai, 60km from Warmbaths on the Thabazimbi road. Most of the training is done here. Some of the other reserves we use for training is home to the Big Five, plains game and many bird species.

During the different courses, outings to some of the reserves include places like Shona Langa, Ntokozo,  De Wild Cheetah and Wild Dog Breeding Centre, Mabula Game Lodge, Zebula Country Lodge, Mountain View Nature Reserve, Noveni – Balule Nature Reserve, Kruger National Park, Borakolalo National Park, Marakele, The Elephant Sanctury/Adventures with Elepahants, Khamai Reptile Centre etc.

Basic, but neat accomodation, the wonder of nature and South African food makes every day on course an experience.

Mornings are mostly spent on practical walks in the veld, while days are spent with short revision tests, lectures and studying.  At night we have group dinners, sometimes evening lectures, nature dvds or fence patrolls.  Meals are anything from braai (barbeque) to fish and chips and spagetti bolognaise.
